Women Achieving Greatness in Social Care Awards.

The Hilton, London Bankside.

Wednesday 30th November.

This year we had two finalists for the Women Achieving Greatness in Social Care Awards. This was a big achievement for the Gables as we know how well-established this awards ceremony and only the best of the best get to the final! Ann, our Registered Manager was up for the Lifetime Achievement Award and Phillippa, our Operations Manager was up for the Business Woman of the Year Award. We are always so proud of all our team members, which is why we nominate them for their hard work!

We nominated Ann because of her dedication towards the Gables and as she's been here for over 20 years we couldn't think of any other award most suited to her than the Lifetime Achievement Award. Ann gives her all to our home, she goes over and beyond for our residents and our staff, comes in on days off, comes in on Christmas Day, spends 1-1 time with each Resident as well as building strong relationships with our team of staff. Ann goes out of her way to plan special events and activities for the residents, we just don't know what we'd do without her!

We also nominated Phillippa for an award for our sister home - Compton View Care Home in Yeovil due to her commitment towards the home and the team. We nominated Phillippa for Business Woman of the Year because although she has only been with us for 2 years, she has already made so many active changes to our sister home, Compton View for the better, including revamping the home with new decorations and furniture, rearranging for better use of space for staff and residents, and implementing checklists and guidelines for the staff to follow to ensure a safer home, organising new and exciting activities for the residents to enjoy - she also has introduced a new wellness programme for our staff members to ensure their wellbeing is taken care of, felt appreciated and giving them the time out or support they may need. She added the opportunity to offer some time to escape working life with our mobile massage therapist where staff members can indulge in this luxury to assist their mental and physical wellbeing.

On to the awards..

To find out both our ladies were finalists was a great feeling, we were so proud! The awards ceremony was being held at the Hilton Hotel in London, so we booked our tickets, hotel and train tickets and awaited the big night!

As 30th November came around, we were all excited to head down to London to explore and get ready for the awards ceremony. Phillippa and Ann were joined by our Managing Director, Paul and our Marketing Manager, Chloe to capture the event!

We got to see all the sights on the way to our hotel, we drove past Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, the London Eye and London City Centre was dressed in Christmas decorations as we came to the festive time of year! As we pulled up to the Hilton, we were greeted by more Christmas decorations and a beautiful big tree in the reception. As we settled for the afternoon, we got prepared for the night ahead.

Soon lots of other finalists and care companies arrived at the Hilton all dressed to the nines, we just loved being a part of the occasion and surrounded by other successful individuals! As we took our seats, we were accompanied by music, laughter and a delicious 3-course meal. We had some musical entertainment from the West End cast of Mamma Mia! This of course got everybody up and dancing and it was a great way to start the night off! We also had a guest speaker, Julia Bradbury, who joined us to present the awards while providing an empowering speech and posed for photos with all of the finalists.

Unfortunately, we didn't win this time. We were so proud of Ann & Phillippa, it doesn't matter that we didn't win an award, just to get to the finalist stage is impressive enough! Plus we all had a fabulous evening and got to enjoy the sights of London, too!
