This year we had 2 nominees up for awards for the Care and Support West Awards:
Ann Lloyd-Owen - Care Home Manager of the Year.
We have chosen Ann for this award because of her hard work and dedication throughout the previous 20 years in her role as our Registered Manager. Ann always ensures that our 24/7 carers are doing the best they can to keep our residents comfortable, safe and happy. She will always go in on her days off if there is an issue in the home or if a resident needs her. The residents idolise her, she has formed such beautiful relationships with them along the way, and she is always so approachable and kind. The pandemic has certainly been difficult but Ann has kept her professionalism throughout, even in the toughest of times.
Phil Hooper - Ancillary Frontline Worker of the Year
We have chosen Phil for this award for always keeping the house together, literally! Phil is our Handyman and he ensures the necessary safety protocols and testing of our home. Phil works so hard to make our home look up to the right standard and ensure everything is up to working order. He is always on hand for the residents' rooms if they need anything fixing or just some home improvements!
Our Awards night was held at Ashton Gate Stadium in Bristol and it was so wonderful to see so many other great Care companies alongside us. Our night was filled with laughter, prosecco and great food! We were accompanied by some familiar faces which were lovely to be reunited with people we hadn't seen for a long time. The entertainment was very good, we even had a silent disco in some parts of the evening which really got everyone involved, up and dancing! The awards team put on a fantastic night and everyone enjoyed themselves throughout the whole evening.
Now on to the awards...
We had the full force with us at this awards night, Ann was joined by her husband and two of the Gables' Team Leaders Kelly and Amy, as well as the Management team of our Marketing Manager, Chloe, our Operations Manager, Phillippa, and of course our Owners, Paul and Jacky. Unfortunately, we didn't win an award this year in our categories, but this didn't dampen our spirit at all, we were so pleased to even be a finalist. Our team works so hard so it was so great to be able to treat them to a glamorous night out. We witnessed lots of amazing individuals praised for their outstanding work in the care sector and we were so grateful to be a part of this.
